MEDITERRANEAN SAILING SCHEDULE - 2008
Greece

This summer we will be sailing on a 46-foot Nelson yacht, Heliantus while Eidos gets some necessary maintenance work done.
Heliantus is a charter vessel belonging to an Italian non-profit organization, Vela e Bennessere and she comes complete with an
Italian, multilingual captain and a chef. Heliantus is also available for private groups.

June 29 to July 5
Naturalists' Paradise - Amvrakikos Gulf in the Ionian - Preveza - $2,500CAD/person.

This is the biggest wetland area in Greece and consists of lagoons, reed beds, forests and salt marshes. It is a paradise for bird
watchers, kayakers, naturalists and nature photographers. It supports approximately 250 different species of birds including the third
largest colony of Dalmatian pelicans in Europe and a largest colony of herons in the Balkans. You will sail in the gulf where dolphins and
sea turtles abound, kayak in the lagoons, visit traditional eel farms, see the area of the water buffaloes, as well as the monastery of the
Virgin Mary of Rodia and the ancient site of Nikopolis of Anthony and Cleopatra fame.  Our base will be

with four cabins capable of accommodating up to eight guests.  This service adventure includes airport pick up, shared cabin
accommodation, your meals on board, dinghy with motor, guided tour of the Rodia wetlands and a visit to Nikopolis.

July 6 to July 12
Northern Ionian - Gates of Hades - Preveza - $2,500CAD

We will be sailing to the island of Paxoi, as well as visiting the coastal harbors of Parga and Mourtos. We will go up the river Acherondas
(the mythological gates of Hades) to the ancient site of the oracle of  Nekromanteo.  Full service adventure on board
Heliantus, a 46-foot
yacht. $2,500CAD per person includes airport pick up, shared cabin accommodation, your meals on board, and tour of Nekromanteo.

July 13 to 19

September 28 to October 4
Land tour - Zagorohoria and Vikos Aoös National Park - Igumenitsa

This park is the home to almost a third of Greece's flora,as well as endemic fish, foxes and chamois, rare hawks, river otters and brown
bears. The peaks of the Tymfi Massif rise to over 2,000 meters. The Vikos Gorge is said to be the world's deepest.  On our hikes we might
even meet some of the semi-nomadic Vlach and Sarakatsani shepherds taking their flocks up to the high grazing grounds. Our adventure
will includes optional three days of  hut to hut hiking.  We will visit remote villages and mountain hamlets. This adventure will appeal to
nature photographers, hikers and climbers.
