|
Greece
January to March
Eidos is available as a retreat for writers, photographers, artists and meditation practitioners. - ask me for details.
Note: Summer schedule is still tentative. I will know more by the end of February. Please check my blog or here for updates.
April
Naturalists' Paradise - Ambracian Gulf in the Ionian - Preveza
This is the biggest wetland area in Greece and consists of lagoons, reed beds, forests and salt marshes. It is a paradise for bird
watchers, kayakers, naturalists and nature photographers. It supports approximately 250 different species of birds including the third
largest colony of Dalmatian pelicans in Europe and a largest colony of herons in the Balkans. We will sail in the gulf where dolphins and
sea turtles abound, anchor and swim in sheltered coves and visit Vonitsa, a quaint town with a Venetian castle on a hill. If you stay long
enough, as an additional option, we could kayak in the lagoons, visit traditional eel farms, see the area of the water buffaloes, as well as
the monastery of the Virgin Mary of Rodia and the ancient site of Nikopolis of Anthony and Cleopatra fame. Check here for more information.
May
Southern Ionian Sea - Preveza to Ithaca
Sail in the sea of King Odysseus, as well as Anthony and Cleopatra and other ancient heroes. We will leave from Preveza and go to
Lefkada Island, see Scorpios Island of Onassis and Kennedy fame, on to Meganisi to visit her beautiful anchorages and villages and
finally Ithaca - most likely Odysseus' kingdom - with optional guided hikes on Ithaca. We will be renting a car or scooters to explore this
beautiful island.
June
