If you would like to come sailing, go to the Schedule page and find which days you would tentatively like to visit. Then go to the Apply page,
copy the forms to your computer, fill them out and email them back to me. That's all. I will get back to you as soon as I can - usually within a
week. If all seems clear and we decide to go ahead with you coming aboard, then you can book your flight.
You are responsible for your own travel arrangements and a hotel room for the first and last night if necessary. Make sure you have enough
money for transfers between airports, buses, trains and the harbor where we will meet, personal expenses, personal insurance, visas, or
individual immigration charges. You need to have a return ticket booked when you arrive, or deposit the equivalent in cash with the captain.
If you are contributing to the expenses, then the work I expect is the normal day to day running of the boat. This means keeping the boat tidy
and clean, galley duties, shopping for groceries, steering, sail handling, watch keeping, anchoring, keeping the boat secure at anchor or at a
dock, etc. There might be some minor maintenance work to do as well, such as washing the boat off or cleaning the dinghy.
If you would like to exchange your work for all or part of the expenses on Eidos, then it depends on your skills and interests. There is sanding
and varnishing, polishing of stainless steel, re-bedding of hardware, electrical upgrades, engine maintenance, carpentry, re-caulking of the
teak decks, scrubbing of the hull under water, or antifouling during a haul out. Let me know what skills you have and depending on when
you are here, we might be able to work something out. Please be aware that most of the maintenance work is done in the off season.
In exchange for berth and board I expect 30 hours of work per week. This could be only mornings seven days a week or four days on three
days off, whatever works. For berth or board only you would need to work 15 hours per week. I prefer to get the work out of the way early in the
morning while it is still cool and then sail or sightsee for the rest of the day.
Of course you may come as a guest, and just enjoy your holiday. I will do all the work including cooking, cleaning and sailing as well as be
your tour guide. Perhaps you have an adventure of your own to trade. Here is a typical full service menu on board.
Eidos is also available as a writer's, photographer's, artist's, or meditation retreat. Please contact me for more information.
