Happiness is not based on possessions, power or prestige, but on relationships with people we love and respect.
My goal is to form groups that work well together and are able to sail Eidos safely in all
weather conditions. I make a choice on the basis of attitude, evidence of love of sailing,
navigation and cruising, additional skills (such as medical, language, mechanical,
culinary, educational, etc.), physical fitness and a willingness to participate fully in all
aspects of shipboard life.
Safe and enjoyable voyaging on Eidos depends on
the entire crew working together in all situations,
many of them strenuous and challenging. Prior
physical conditioning and an enthusiastic mental
attitude are a necessity. It is essential that everyone
is capable of performing all tasks on board,
including steering and working on deck in
sometimes rugged conditions. A person who
exercises regularly and is in good physical and
mental health will be an asset on board. If you are
significantly overweight, do not lead a physically
active life or have psychological problems including
depression or addiction, you will have difficulty at
sea.
Eidos is not a charter vessel and I expect everyone
who sails with her to participate in the running of the
boat. This includes watch-keeping, sail handling,
steering, galley and housekeeping duties. If you are
exchanging work for sailing, there is always plenty to
do if you have the skills.
At sea I follow strict safety rules, including the wearing
of harnesses by everyone while on deck in rough
weather, practice of man-overboard procedures and
abstinence from alcohol. Also, no smoking or drugs
are allowed. At anchor and in port, alcohol is enjoyed
in moderation.

You should have at least basic sailing skills
for the longer coastal voyages, intermediate
for offshore. For major passages, I prefer you
have at least four days “out of sight of land,
non-stop” experience. If you are new to
sailing, and are keen to learn, please don't
lose heart, I can teach you all you need to
know during some of the easier trips.
If you wish, you can be issued a Sea
Time certificate for the time you are on
board Eidos. This certificate will look like
this:
There is plenty of time for fun at sea as well
as on land. The pace of life on Eidos is
definitely at a drifting speed.
